LEGAL NOTICE - CITY OF READING BENCH PROJECT

LEGAL NOTICE

Sealed bids will be received at the City of Reading located at 1000 Market Street, Reading, Ohio 45215, until 10:00 a.m. local time on Friday, March 15, 2018, for all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the project known as Mill Creek Bench Project N and at said time and place, publicly opened and read aloud.

Each bid must be made in accordance with the plans & specifications which are now on file in the general offices of the City of Reading. Cost of the plans & specifications is $25.00 (non-refundable).

Each bid must be submitted in a sealed envelope plainly marked on the outside with the name of the bidder, his address, and the name of the project for which the bid is submitted.

Each proposal shall contain the full name and address of every person, firm or corporation interested in the same and shall be accompanied by a bond given in favor of the City of Reading, Ohio for an amount equal to at least 100% of the total amount of the bid, with surety or sureties satisfactory to the City of Reading from a surety company authorized to do business in Ohio. The bond shall provide that the bidder shall, within 30 days after notice of acceptance of his proposal, enter into a contract and give an acceptable bond in the sum of not less than 100% of the contract price to properly secure performance within the contract time.

Contractors must comply with the Davis-Bacon Act in the payment of prevailing federal minimum wages, and the contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act regarding compensation for overtime and safe working conditions in all contracts of $2,000 or more.

On contracts of $25,000 or more, general contractors will be required to achieve 10% minority business entrepreneur participation in the contract, or clearly demonstrate and document a good faith effort to achieve MBE participation to be eligible for contract award.

On all contracts $50,000 or greater, the following applies: Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968 requires that, to the greatest extent feasible, in connection with work covered by this contract, opportunities for training and employment be made to lower income residents of the project area, and that contract work be awarded to business concerns which are owned substantially by low income residents of the project area.


The City of Reading reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive irregularities.
