Reading Fire Department
The Reading Fire Department provides a full range of services to more than 11,000 people in the City of Reading and Village of Arlington Heights including fire suppression, emergency medical services, specialized rescue, hazardous materials response, and other emergency responses. 
In addition, the department provides public education, fire prevention and educational programs to all ages within the city.
The department also conducts fire inspections, fire sprinkler and alarm plan reviews and fire investigations.
The RFD's 14 career personnel, 6 part-time personnel and 18 paid on-call personnel protect life, property, and the environment in pursuit of the Department's mission and vision.
Last year, the men and women of the RFD responded over 1900 times to come to the aid of their neighbors, overcoming a host of challenges to fullfill their pledge of:
